Rui Tang

Born and bred in the highlands of the Tibetan mountains comes Rui Tang, a stylish musical character who is well-known in the underground scenes in Thailand.

Rui’s musical style showcases her traditional roots along with the unique sounds of world music that she was introduced to when she moved to Thailand 11 years ago. Hit with this amazingly unique sensory overload, Rui discovered techno in Bangkok’s underground clubs, a genre that made her ears feel right at home and energized her love for electronic music, leading her to become a DJ.

Today, Rui has a deep passion for spinning many types of electronic music, including indie dance, house, organic house and disco, and has also started producing her own tunes. She manages her own label Mapo Tofu and is co-founder of label 友 TOMOYŎU.

Over the years, she has brought her unique sounds all across Thailand, including various festivals and venues. Some of her recent highlights include Wonderfruit Festival, Drumcode, Kolour Festival, Unarhan Festival, Fly to the Moon Festival, Back 2 The Groove Festival, Mystic Valley, Shuangda Festival(China), Beamcube, Mustache Bangkok, Sing Sing Theater, Blaq Lyte Rover, Never Normal BKK, 12x12 Bar, Studio Lam, Cafe Del Mar Phuket, No More Snow Phuket, Loud BKK, Mad Stash, Epic Entertainment, Lost Paradise, Samsara Beach Club, Retro Mountain Koh Phangan and more. She has also played alongside Dixon, Victor Ruiz, Joris Voorn, Bart Skils, Kölsch, Radio Slaves, Nakadia, and many more. Additionally, she has spread her magical music power in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and toured mainland China.
